Meet Sarah

Sarah is our manager aka ‘The Mother’ of the salon. She keeps us all in check and makes sure everything runs the way it should.

She started with us in March, and is a great (much needed) asset to the McGill’s team. If you haven’t already met her in the salon yet, here’s a few Q & A’s with ‘The Mother’ herself.

Q:  Whats your poison?
A: – Rum and coke, it has to be dark rum with a squeeze of lime.

Q:  Whats your favourite Davines product?
A:  –  ‘More inside, shimmer mist’. It makes the hair super shiny and smells amazing.

Q:  Who is your hero or heroine?
A:  – Will Smith – he just always seems so happy.

Q:  What’s your favourite food?
A:  – My gran’s tablet; its the best!

Travel Essentials

With the holiday season nearly upon us, we thought we’d give you the low down of what you should be packing.

Most women (75% in fact) colour their hair. On average, each person spends £751 per year, thats a lot right? No one wants to be throwing money down the drain, which is why maintaining your hair, especially in the sun is super important.

Here’s a few cons of what sun damage can do to your hair and what you can do about it.

For Colour Fade, we recommend Davines Minu shampoo and conditioner or Davines Alchahemic range. These ranges are specifically for coloured hair, helping lock in colour, for longer lasting effects. They also have caper blossom extracts in them to help illuminate colour and give amazing shine.

For Frizziness, we recommend Davines, Love Smooth Cream. Frizzyness can be due to humidity or dryness. Either way, helping smooth the cuticle helps with both. Apply a 10p amount to wet hair, starting from the mid lengths to ends, ( too much on the root can weigh the hair down). This product can also be applied on dry hair, using a 5p amount if need be.

For Dry/Damaged, we recommend Oi Oil or Oi All In One Milk. This is a must whether your in the sun or not. Dry/Damaged hair lacks moisture, and needs hydrating. Both these products can be applied to wet or dry hair, everyday. 1-2 pumps will be plenty.

The best way to treat dry hair is the same as your skin. If your skin was dry, you would moisturise it until it improved. This should be the same for your hair, but unfortunately isn’t always the case. Get using either of these products…. you won’t regret it.

For A Dry Scalp, we recommend Davines ‘Purity Circle Mask’. This anti pollution & anti – oxidant gives new life to your scalp and hair. It works by gently removing impurities from pollution & product build up. It can be applied to dry hair before shampooing or post shampoo if preferred. Process for 10 minutes and VOILA…  A super clean, fresh, breathable, healthy scalp. Each sachet contains 4-5 treatments depending on hair length. We advice to use this once per week.
